Every leaf carries the actual growth history of that tree \u2014 cathedral figure, colour shift toward the sapwood, the occasional small knot. Two panels cut from different flitches will not match exactly, and no manufacturer can promise otherwise.<br \/>\nTechnical veneer (<a href=\"https:\/\/bnpanel.com\/de\/kategorie\/holz-akustikplatten\/technische-holzfurniere\/\">TBW series<\/a>) is still real wood. That surprises a lot of specifiers who assume &#8220;technical&#8221; means print or foil. Fast-growing timber is sliced, dyed through, laminated into a block, then re-sliced so the grain pattern is designed rather than inherited. Otherwise phase two arrives visually correct and tonally wrong. Technical veneer removes this exposure because the pattern is manufactured to a code rather than harvested.<br \/>\n<strong>Assuming &#8220;technical&#8221; means synthetic.<\/strong> It does not. PVC-surface panels are a separate BEIEN family (PBW series) with a plastic decorative layer. Technical veneer is wood. Conflating the two in a specification document leads to the wrong sample being sent and the wrong price being quoted.<br \/>\n<strong>Assuming FSC covers whatever you order.<\/strong> BEIEN holds FSC Chain of Custody certificate GFA-COC-008037, issued by GFA Certification GmbH under FSC-STD-40-004 Version 3.1, valid from 29 October 2024 to 28 October 2029, with a published scope that includes wooden sound-absorbing boards. That does not mean every veneer, every finish and every order line is automatically an FSC claim. Chain of custody has to be requested and applied at order level.<br \/>\n<strong>Reading the CE certificate as a fire document.<\/strong> The CE Type Examination Certificate DE\/7552, issued by CSI S.p.A. for the product described as BEIEN WALL PANEL, references EN 15102:2007+A1:2011 \u2014 the harmonised standard for decorative wall coverings. It is valid from 11 June 2024 to 10 June 2029. It is not a Euroclass fire report for wood slat panels, and it should not be quoted as one.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What the certificates actually cover on wood panels<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the part that decides whether your specification survives review.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/bnpanel.com\/de\/zertifikat\/\">BEIEN<\/a>&#8216;s SGS fire classification report SHFS2403000289FF (SGS reference SHIN2403000573CM01, report date 1 April 2024, EN 13501-1:2018, result B-s2,d0) was run on a polyester sound-absorbing board, sample model BN-002, 9 mm, 1700 g\/m\u00b2. That result belongs to that PET configuration. It does not transfer to NBW or TBW wood slat panels.<\/li>\n<li>No published sound absorption test \u2014 no NRC, no \u03b1w, no ISO 354 chamber data \u2014 is currently available for the NBW or TBW series. Any absorption figure you need for a submittal has to be requested and tested, not lifted from a catalogue.<\/li>\n<li>The raw-material policy for wood acoustic panel MDF is stated as E0 grade.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For an acoustic consultant this is the honest position: BEIEN can supply the panel and the documented material data, but if your project requires a certified absorption coefficient for a specific model and cavity depth, that test needs to be commissioned. If yes, weight the decision toward technical veneer.<\/li>\n<li>Decide whether the client is buying a material story or a finish standard. Natural veneer sells the former; technical veneer delivers the latter.<\/li>\n<li>Check the viewing angle. Slats seen from an oblique approach expose their sides, which is where three-side veneer coverage matters and one-side coverage shows the substrate edge.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm whether an FSC claim is required on the order, and state it at quotation stage rather than at shipment.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm whether the submittal needs a certified absorption figure. If it does, raise the test requirement before the sample round, not after.<\/li>\n<li>Request physical samples of the exact finish code \u2014 not a photograph \u2014 and view them under the project&#8217;s actual lighting temperature.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2>FAQ<\/h2>\n<p>Q: Is technical veneer real wood?<\/p>\n<p>A: Yes. It is made from real timber that has been sliced, dyed, laminated into a block and re-sliced. It is not a printed film or a PVC laminate \u2014 those are a separate product family (BEIEN&#8217;s PBW series).Q: Which one sounds better? A: Neither. Absorption comes from the polyester-fibre backing and the slat spacing, not the veneer leaf. A 0.4\u20130.5 mm surface layer does not change the acoustic behaviour of the assembly in any meaningful way.<br \/>\nQ: Can BEIEN supply an NRC rating for NBW or TBW panels?<\/p>\n<p>A: Not currently.
